Leadership that empowers, innovates, and reforms
“I create opportunities to solve diverse problems in innovative and versatile ways. While I may not always have the exact skills or answers to tackle challenges, my tenacious ability to learn and explore the path has become one of my most prized traits.
I want my work to be meaningful and useful to the community I serve, something I aspire to achieve regardless of the hard work, effort, and commitment required of me.”

Hi there - I am Vaishali!
A dedicated and active community member, I am one of the many residents that proudly call Chestermere their home! My ultimate goals are of:
My journey has been one fueled by passion for self-growth and a relentless pursuit of making a positive impact in my communities. My educational and volunteer background has allowed me to hone my skills in understanding complex issues and devising strategic solutions to developmental insufficiencies.
But beyond these qualifications lies a deep-seated commitment to serving others. I believe that true leadership is not about titles, accolades, or qualifications - it is about empathy, integrity, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
My approach to governance is rooted in inclusivity and collaboration - I believe that by bringing diverse voices to the table, we can not only unlock creative solutions to our most pressing challenges, but actually understand grassroot issues that might otherwise go unheard. My mission is to serve the rapidly evolving needs of Chestermere’s booming population, while simultaneously creating space for our residents to grow and guide the direction the city’s future takes. But above all, I am driven by a sense of purpose - to leave this world a little better than I found it. I’m here to listen, to learn, and to lead with humility and empathy.
Together, let’s embark on a journey or growth, progress, and positive change. Because when we unite our efforts and our hearts, there’s no limit to what we can achieve. So, I humbly request you to allow me to serve, grow, and help our community.
With gratitude and determination,
Vaishali Kumar

Life By The Lake!
When I first came to Chestermere in 2018, I assumed it to be a small, quiet town with not much to do! But the city and its residents surprised me - Chestermere quickly grew and boomed with life, while the amazing opportunities that organizations like Synergy, Rotary, Camp Chestermere, the Library, and the Multicultural Youth Society of Chestermere offered gave me multiple chances to explore the dynamic and vast diversity the community had to offer! Whether it be sitting in on meetings to various groups and associations, or planning massive events like Multicultural Youth Society of Chestermere’s annual HinduFest and City Hall’s Diwali Fest, Chestermere has provided me tons of opportunities to grow and develop my own skillset and understanding of the city. You might even recognize me from my diversity articles published on the Chestermere Anchor and Chestermere Today!
Currently, I am a part of MYSC, as well as a board member on the Chestermere Library Board. I am a recent graduate from University of Calgary, a marketing and social enterprise development advisor, and an avid volunteer! I have also had the honor of working with Alberta’s Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Status of Women, Chestermere’s City Hall, and student-led The Humanitarian Imitative on numerous cultural and education programs. You might have even seen me attending numerous events and conferences around town, or simply in City Hall, refining my understanding of the ins and outs of the city.
